The U.S. Department of Homeland Security--which has been having an awfully tough time getting 22 different agencies to work
together--will be  getting some help from Northrop Grumman.

Northrop will manage the integration of the Homeland Security department's human resources management system. Northrop Grumman will partner with Watson Wyatt, BearingPoint and others. Northrop spokeswoman Juli Ballesteros tells Workforce Management that her company beat out Booz Allen Hamilton and IBM for the contract.

Ballesteros says Northrop will get an initial $2 million contract, followed by additional contracts for a total "maximum potential value" of $175 million over three years. Northrop will implement a PeopleSoft system throughout the agency and throughout various human resources functions, including training, payroll and benefits.
