What are the implications of relocating employees to working conditions that are demonstrably poorer than others in the organization who are doing the same type of work?

A Dear Roger:

The implications are catastrophic if they are in contiguous space. The principal outcome is to create a second class citizenry.

PricewaterhouseCooper's research on employee affiliation has found that workplace environment is #7 in the "Hierarchy of Employee Wants."

The top six:

1. Learning Opportunities

2. Compensation

3. Career Potential

4. Management Mentoring

5. Firm Reputation

6. Employee Benefits

Employees need to feel psychic and physical comfort to optimize performance.

Open space, lighting, white noise, "team interraction," headsets, and the ability to work remotely are common requests. If there is a lopsided spacedesignation there is as an anticipated consequence low morale.
