Expressing one's beliefs and values that are against the laws of common decencies of man is a form of action, as is taking a club to another man's head. Although night and day, the principle is the same: you have the freedom to think whatever you want, but when those thoughts are put into action, one must be responsible for the physical or expressed outcomes.

Agreed, the real consequences Rocker will experience will be from his fellow teammates and his fellow man, which will carry a longer impact than the monetary fine and the adult "timeout" he received, but a punishment for his act of expression against man must be delivered...and I applaud MLB for doing so.

While I also agree that we can't ignore the root problem in Rocker's head and need to find ways to help him and ours like them, we can't control what people think and belief.

So in a way, I guess I subscribe to the old ideas of, "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything," along with "Bite your tongue."
