People moving into key executive positions

Stuart Kerr has joined as vice president of enterprise business. Prior to joining, Kerr was president of ObjectStar International. Before that, Kerr was regional vice president at Vitria Technology.

Ben Shneiderman has been appointed to the technology and strategy advisory board at Groxis. Shneiderman is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, a founding director of the university’s Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory and a member of the school’s Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.

Anja Turner has joined Anteo Group as director of marketing communication. Turner comes to Anteo from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where she was assistant marketing manager.

Scott Johnson has been named vice president of sales and marketing at HCR Software.

Jamie Davis has joined HCR Software as vice president of business development.

C.J. Dabo has been named Department of Defense program manager for Interstate Van Lines. Dabo joined Interstate after working for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command in charge of the Defense Personal Property System.

Rebecca Hefter has been named senior vice president for training at Novations Group. Hefter had been national program manager since 1988 with Decker Communications, which merged with Novations in 1998.

Michelle Berger has been named director of business development at Bailey Consulting Group.

William Webb has been appointed business development manager at the Castleton Group.

John R. Ryan has been appointed president and CEO of the Center for Creative Leadership. Ryan is currently chancellor of the State University of New York. He has also served on the center’s board of directors since 2002. Prior to becoming chancellor of SUNY in 2005, Ryan was president of State University of New York Maritime College.

Mary Shafer has been promoted to executive vice president of RWD Technologies. Shafer joined RWD in 1995 as an account manager. She most recently was senior vice president of North American operations for enterprise learning solutions.

Rich Mazelsky has been named regional vice president of staffing services for the Northeast/mid-Atlantic region at Spherion.

Elaine Emch has been appointed national director of marketing and business development at Chapman and Cutler. Emch joins Chapman after serving as director of pursuit strategy and proposals for KPMG. Before that she headed her own communications and strategy firm and also was regional vice president of Aon Risk Services.

Kevin Hegebarth has been appointed vice president of marketing for GMT Corp. Prior to joining GMT, Hegebarth was with Witness Systems in various management positions.

Richard V. Smith has joined Sibson Consulting as senior vice president and executive compensation consultant for the organizational effectiveness practice. He most recently was director and executive compensation practice leader for McDermott Will & Emery. He has also served as director of the executive compensation advisory practice at KPMG.

George Korean has joined the Segal Co. as vice president and health consultant. He was managing director and consulting actuary for Paragon Consultants & Actuaries.

Kai Petersen has joined Buck Consultants as principal and Western region retirement practice leader. Peterson comes to Buck from the Segal Co., where he was head of the retirement practice for Segal’s Western region.

Larry Kihlstadius has joined as Veritude senior vice president of business development. Kihlstadius was vice president and general manager for Gevity’s middle-market HR outsourcing offering. dential Brokerage, where he worked for 10 years.

Helen Nugent has been appointed executive chairman of the Hudson Highland Group.

Gina Boswell has joined the board of directors at Manpower Inc. Boswell is senior vice president and COO at Avon North America.

Susan Henry has been appointed president of the Illinois Staffing Association, a chapter of the American Staffing Association. Henry is senior vice president of Jacobson Solutions.

Clifford Lange has been appointed CFO and chief actuary at Boston Mutual Life Insurance. He most recently was senior vice president and chief actuary at Excellus Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Rochester, New York.

John Jakubek has been appointed senior vice president of human resources at Oakwood Worldwide. Most recently he was vice president of human resources at ConAgra Foods, where he had been since 2001. Prior to that he was with Paper-Pak Products as vice president of human resources.
Kevin A. McNerney has joined Korn/Ferry International as senior client partner and regional market leader for North America. Most recently he was with Heidrick & Struggles as managing director of the Tysons Corner, Virginia, office.
Julie Martin has been promoted to senior account manager at Benefit Plans Plus. She has been with Benefit Plans Plus for the past seven years.
David F. Dougherty has been appointed CEO of Convergys. Dougherty joined Convergys in 1998 as president of Convergys’ customer management business. He was then promoted to president and COO in September 2005 and became a member of the board of directors in August 2006. Prior to joining Convergys, Dougherty was with Cincinnati Bell’s Matrixx Marketing subsidiary from 1990 to 1995, ultimately serving as president and CEO.
Rajiv Inamdar has been named managing director of the knowledge management center at Heidrick & Struggles. Inamdar was COO of Egon Zehnder’s research center in India. Before that, he held senior positions at Standard Chartered Bank, ACNielsen and Citibank.
Robb J. Gomez has been promoted to president of Paradigm Learning Inc. He was executive vice president of sales at Paradigm. Gomez has been with Paradigm since 1995, starting as business development manager.

Joe Jackson has been appointed CEO of WageWorks. Jackson most recently was president of Western Union Global Payment Services, a subsidiary of First Data Corp., where Jackson for 25 years.

Jonathan Spector has been appointed CEO of the Conference Board. Spector is vice dean at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He was chairman of the Massachusetts March of Dimes from 2003 to 2006 and continues to be a director. He has also worked for McKinsey & Co., Darwin Networks and Seurat Co. in various leadership positions.

Scot Sedlacek has joined the board of directors at Lumeta. Prior to joining Lumeta, Sedlacek was managing director at Jefferies & Co.’s Technology Investment Banking Group.

Karen L. Crone has been appointed vice president of global human resources at Kendle. Crone comes to Kendle from Convergys, where she held a variety of human resources positions, most recently vice president of human resources for the Asia-Pacific region.

Michael Shea has been appointed executive vice president of quality and service operations at Ceridian. He most recently was senior vice president of operations for GE Commercial Finance Fleet Services.

Steven M. Rabinowitz has joined the Segal Co. as senior vice president of the national retirement practice. He most recently was senior consultant in Towers Perrin’s metro New York retirement practice.

Don Rutherford has been appointed CFO of BPO Management Services.

Mark Bernardini has been tapped to lead the government services industry effort at Resources Global Professionals. Before joining Resources Global Professionals, Bernardini was senior manager of aerospace and defense manufacturing at Deloitte Consulting from 1994 to 2006. 

Alexandra Karaer has joined the American Staffing Association as director of research. An economist, Karaer most recently was an analyst with the Bureau of Economic Analysis, part of the U.S. Commerce Department, for the past six years.

Robert A. Yungk has joined Mercer Health & Benefits as president and global head. Yungk comes to Mercer from Tenet Healthcare, where he was senior vice president of managed care since 2003. He also has been a board member for People’s Health Network.

Gary E. Redabaugh has joined the Segal Co. as a health consultant. He was a senior accountant manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Colorado. 

Phillip O. Worthman has joined the Segal Co. as a health consultant. He was senior client manager for Cigna HealthCare in Denver.

Gerald Purgay has joined Right Management as senior vice president of global marketing. He was chief marketing officer at Behavioral Science Technology. Before that, he was a marketing executive for Drake Beam Morin.

Jennifer Redmond has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton as partner in the labor and employment practice group. She most recently was practicing with Bingham McCuthen.

Edward P. Estelle has joined Sapphire Technologies as area manager of the Washington, D.C., regional office.

Robert Waller Jr. has been appointed board president at AMCinstitute. AMCinstitute was formerly known as the International Association of Association Management Companies, for which Waller served as president and COO.

Patrick Hartman has been appointed executive vice president and CFO of Community Bancorp. Hartman most recently was CFO of Center Financial Corp./Center Bank. Prior to that he was the founder of Alpha Consulting Group.

Liang Meng has been named CEO of the greater China private equity unit of the D.E. Shaw group. Prior to joining D.E. Shaw, Meng was managing director and co-head of China Investment Banking at JPMorgan Securities Ltd. Before that he managed the media and telecommunications sectors of Credit Suisse First Boston.

Michael V. Blair has been appointed executive vice president of LSSI. Prior to joining LSSI, Blair was founder and CEO of TrueClose.

Paul Chapman has been appointed vice chairman of the Association of Technology Staffing Companies. Chapman is president of Modis International.

Martin Horne and Joann Noble have been named vice presidents of business development for consulting services at Veritude. Horne previously served as strategic account executive and client engagement manager for Workscape. Noble comes to Veritude from Fleet/BankBoston, where he was vice president of financial services consulting.

Sharlyn Lauby has been named president of the HR Florida State Council, the Florida state affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management. Lauby is CEO of ITM Group.

Mathias Kesting has been appointed managing director of Personnel Decisions International’s Germany operations. Most recently he was senior project manager at Kienbaum Management Consultants.

Neil Waldron has been named senior vice president of group health at Great-West Healthcare. Most recently Waldron served as head of small- and middle-market sales and marketing for Aetna. He was also in charge of sales and marketing and general management for Aetna’s mid-Atlantic, Northeast, North Central, Southeast, Southwest and West regions.

Terry Merlin has been appointed director of sales and marketing for TeamStaff Rx. Merlin previously was president of NI Healthcare Resources, a division of Talent Tree, and vice president of business development for All About Staffing, an affiliate of HCA.

Bryan E. Gingrich has joined A.G. Edwards as associate vice president and director of diversity and inclusion. Prior to joining A.G. Edwards, Gingrich served as senior director of diversity at Sodexho. Prior to that he served as managing director of inclusion for the advisory council for Nextel Communications.
