The rapid rise of social media platforms in the recruiting process does not mean that more traditional sources of candidates have lost favor among recruiters and HR professionals. According to 2011 research from Jobvite Inc., a provider of recruitment systems, referrals generate the highest quality candidates, ahead of internal transfers, direct sourcing and social networks. These candidates tend to cost less to hire, both in terms of time and money, and fit in well once onboard. That's not surprising. Employee referrals are truly the most social of all recruiting tools.
