Data Bank Focus: Fielding All Calls
The American Association of Suicidology's latest data from 2010 show more men committed suicide than women. Yet when it comes to calls fielded by employee assistance providers, women make up a substantially higher percentage of call volume.
Overall, women accounted for about 60 percent of the calls fielded by ComPsych Corp., a Chicago-based EAP, in 2012. Women are more likely to call with issues related to psychological problems, while men make up most of the calls dealing with substance abuse.
