Good Signs from Boston

February 5, 2004
A telltale sign of an improving job market...The Boston Globe reports that "two Boston-area networking groups for unemployed HR executives report dwindling ranks as their members land jobs."

One network of unemployed human resources professionals--the King & Bishop HR Roundtable--has gone from 150 members last summer to only 50 now.

Small businesses as well as large, growing corporations such as Raytheon are hiring recruiters to help fill jobs. "If you're going to hire, you need hirers," said Nicholas Perna, a Conneticut economic consultant. "We don't have to sit around and wait for the governments's next payroll survey to come out for me to add up the pieces that hiring is rising."
