As companies have seen over the years, the workplace isn’t immune to violence. The report "Preventing Gun Violence in the Workplace," from ASIS International, says an average of 500 workplace homicides occur in the U.S. each year, with about 75 percent involving guns. The report describes the specific problem of guns in the workplace, government and industry responses to the issue, recommended actions and more. Although "most workplace violence is not fatal," the report says, companies seeking guidance on the issue may find the report helpful in helping them prevent gun violence at the office and in shaping no-weapons policies.
