Because of administrative snafus, some employers that have applied for the Medicare Retiree Drug Subsidy are now scrambling to meet a March 31 deadline for final reconciliation. If they are unable to confirm eligibility of all of their plan members, they will not be paid for them—or worse, they may have to pay back any interim payments they’ve already received on behalf of those retirees.
