Gov. Pat Quinn, fellow Democrat Richard Durbin and Republican Mark Kirk have written letters of support on behalf of SimpleHx, a co-op proposed by a group of people who met last year while pursuing their MBAs at Northwestern University.
The change comes after Aetna late last year canceled its contract with Rush to provide care to Aetna patients, effective January 1. Rush refused to accept a roughly 30 percent cut in reimbursement rates.
Each participating company would pitch in to implement and maintain the network, with the cost likely to be based on a subscription model, including the number of participating employees and retirees and how much their medical care costs.
