I am looking to see if anyone has had a situation where an employee has voluntarily resigned via email and then rescinded the resignation 20 minutes later essentially saying "not really" with a subject heading of "Not quitting yet". My Manager would like to terminate him for this communication (he is a mediocre employee) ; however, I ask myself and him on what grounds? It is unprofessional conduct and impulsive behavior. I am recommedning disciplinary action at this time; however, does anyone feel there is a strong case for termination and what would you use as your basis of ending the relationship? Thank you for any input.
