Employee theft costs retailers more every year than shoplifting. According to the 2006 National Retail Security Survey--approximately $20 billion per year is lost by U.S. retailers to employee theft. Given the significance of this problem and the various means of committing theft, I suspect most retailers would have terminated these employees.
