"Retaliation occurs when an employer, employment agency or labor organization takes an adverse action against a covered individual because he or she engaged in a protected activity," the EEOC says. For HR managers and others in positions of responsibility, the site offers useful information as well as links to more, including "Information for Small Employers" and "Title VII of the Civil Rights Act."
