Best Companies for Leaders: With about 75 million baby boomers set to retire
within the decade, the need for grooming future leaders has never been more
urgent for U.S. companies. A new study, conducted by HR consultancy Hay Group of
Philadelphia and Chief Executive magazine, found that U.S. multinationals are
leading the way. In compiling the 2006 Best Companies for Leaders list, Hay
Group surveyed 564 companies from around the world that posted at least $8
billion in revenue. The top five companies were all American: General Electric
Co., Proctor & Gamble, PepsiCo, Citigroup and Johnson & Johnson. The
top-ranked U.K. company was financial services behemoth HSBC, with BASF of
Holland ranked the highest continental European firm.
