Report: Outsourcing Contracts Rose in 2006


The number of outsourcing deals increased, but average value declined by 7 percent.


Outsourcing: Outsourcing is on the rise, even though companies are reluctant to sign high-dollar contracts that extend for years, according to a market report by consulting firm TPI of the Woodlands, Texas. The 350 outsourcing contracts awarded globally to service providers in 2006 set a record, and is 3 percent higher than in 2005. However, TPI said the average annual value of 2006 contracts fell nearly 7 percent, potentially reflecting tighter times ahead for outsourcing providers.
