Our company is putting together a training plan for computer technicians to become industry certified. I'm looking for information on the types of training/tuition reimbursement arrangements other companies have with their computer techs. Is it fairly common to require employees who take advantage of this benefit to agree to stay with the company for a specified period of time following the training or have them reimburse the company if they voluntarily terminate? Any information or referrals will be greatly appreciated.

Our company leaves it up to the manager to decide whether or not the person is or is not exempt from reimbursement. They must notate this on the training request. If they are not exempt, if they voluntarily leave the company within 12 months of completing the course they must reimburse the company.
