Do folks pay for travel of candidates applying for positions? How do you define which candidates are eligible? Do you pay for spouses to visit as well? Thanks in advance.

Yes. I am a college recruiter for a large regional accounting firm. We recruit on campus and then invite the most qualified candidates to the central office. All candidates are within driving distance and are compensated the normal 31.5 cents per mile. For those that are more than one hour away, we pay for hotel rooms the night before the interviews. |

Yes we do, but usually only at the senior level. The first visit would include the candidate only and depending upon how far away they are, we'd arrange and pay for airfair, car rental and hotel. If this looks like a keeper, we may invite the candidate back, along with their spouse, for a follow up visit/dinner and city tour. It all depends upon how critical the position is to you and how much you want the candidate. |
