I have just completed a wonderful proposal on changing our current policy to one that is both company and employee friendly, which it was previously not. Everyone liked it, including the CEO and CFO.

I have just completed a wonderful proposal on changing our current policy to one that is both company and employee friendly, which it was previously not. Everyone liked it, including the CEO and CFO. My problem...the COO decided he wanted me to do a local market analysis to find out what the area large corporations are doing for their vacation leave policies. I have no idea how to go about getting this info. Do I call the co's and simply ask or what? Someone please let me know as this has to be completed 14 days from last month! Thank you.

When I have to do a quick survey like the one you are talking about, I call 5-6 companies that we compete with and simply ask them. Some will volunteer the information because they know their turn will come to call me for something and others just won't give any information at all. Good luck!

When we have had to benchmark benefits/policys we have called directly to "like" companies. We have also mailed out surveys, however, it sounds like you don't have the time to do that. By chance, could you email me your new policy. I'm in the process of trying to update ours and I'm looking for ideas. My email address is kimbjo@intecgrp.com Thanks.
