We are rapidly expanding our workforce. I seek help on benchmarking policies such as tuition reimbursement, relocation, employee referral program, and recycling. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Our company reimburses tuition up to $900/yr for at 100% for business relatedcourses, 50% for non. I am also looking to benchmark two things:
1. Vacation time-- is two weeks for year 1 standard
2. Health Benefits-- when can employees join the health plan? After 30 days? Day one?
WE are a 40 person .com company looking to have 70 employees by the end of 2000

When considering tuition reimbursement, make sure you consider how long an employee is going to stay with your company after they complete their courses. Our policy states that the tuition reimbursement is a "loan" that is forgiven on a pro-rated basis for each month the employee stays with the company after the course is completed. After six months, the "loan" is completely forgiven.
