Can employees who take FMLA for parental reason from their main employer, be allowed to work part-time job with another comapny? How does FMLA law looks at such case? Your guidance is appreaciated.

Can employees who take FMLA for parental reason from their main employer, be allowed to work part-time job with another comapny? How does FMLA law looks at such case? Your guidance is appreaciated.

Contact an investigator with the local Wage and Hour Division of the DOL. They are usually very helpful with matters such as this.

Most employers have a policy regarding their employees ability to work for another employers while employed for them.

Secondly, what is the intent of the parental leave program. That is why are you granting the leave? If the intent is to bond with the new child how does someone work part-time during that period for another employer? Perhaps you should allow them to work part time for you. This way you get the benefit of their efforts. A flex time approach to the leave.
