EE Benefits Survey
Exchange ideas about health plans, retirement, work/life benefits, and employee assistance.
We are in the process of adding new and/or creative benefits for our <100 engineering employees. Does anyone have any ideas or a benefits survey to see what employees think is important?

Our firm (under 100) offers medical, dental, life, long-term disability, 401(k) plan, profit sharing, corporate gym memberships and the following pre-tax flexible benefits: dependent care, premium contribution, medical savings and transit commuter plans. The transit commuter plan is the newest one, started 1/1/00, and employees really seem to like that. Highly compensated employees find the group long-term disability very valuable because to take it on their own is exhorbitant.

We are also in the same process! Have you looked at similar companies to see what they are doing? Also, doing a benefits survey is an excellent idea, and you may be surprised at some of the creative ideas your staff will generate!

Some of the things we are looking at in addition to traditional "core benefits" (Medical, 401(k), etc.) are Enhanced Training Accounts, Student Loan Payback Programs, Discounts at Local Stores (rotates to different stores each month), Travel Vouchers, Mentoring/Professional Development Program, Eldercare, etc.

Please keep me updated on your progress.

Good Luck!

Telephone counseling through an EAP is a nice, affordable benefit for a smaller company versus a full EAP Work Life Service program.

Hi,

Have you tried www.pointandquote.com? It is unreal. It is a free benefit for you to offer your employees. They can save bigtime on their auto insurance premiums from some pretty big names in the insruance industry. Try it out...it cost me nothing and their was no obligation....it was so simple to use. Good luck! I am a big hero at my company.

I have been in the process of upgrading our benefits package for the last year. We offer health, dental, life (straight $25K company paid and then employee buy-up options), Section 125, 401(k) (Some new changes here are a 3 month employment period prior to enrollment, 100% vested immediately, and we match 100% on the first $1000 contribution, 20% after that), fully paid short/long term disability, 10 days vacation, 6 sick days, 1 personal day, and 7 holidays. A few other perks offered to our employees are summer cookouts at lunch in the summer (courtesy of Senior Management) and employees are allowed to keep all frequent flyer miles, etc. while travelling.

The newest project I am investigating is a Prepaid Tuition Program that I can offer through payroll deduction for college credits. I am not sure if this is only available in Ohio, but am very interested in hearing if anyone else is/has participated in it. Anyone interested in Ohio can go to www.ohiocollegesavings.org
