Can anyone tell us if one gets taxed based on the state that one works in, or the state that one resides (not related to virtual employees)???

Most likely the employee would have state tax taken out for the state in which they reside in. I beleive the employer is taxed (SUI) for the state the employee works in. In some instances, local taxes could be assessed where the employee works in.

Check with your local agencies, they normally have stipulations such as must reside in one state for so many months, or hold an address in that state.

You need to check with authorities, not this web site.
