84% Health Insurance Renewal???

We just received our health insurance renewal and it has a 29% increase. We have about 100 people which are very young, healthy and have low claims. We have heard this is low considering some increase

84% Health Insurance Renewal???

We just received our health insurance renewal and it has a 29% increase. We have about 100 people which are very young, healthy and have low claims. We have heard this is low considering some increases in the 80% plus range due to recent Government Mandates. Is this what everyone else is experiencing?

My guess would be that the % increase variations depends on the types of plan you are using and how they assess your company's risk. Are you in a "pool" because of your size or are you evaluated on experience? 80+% seems way too high!! We are a company of about the same size and our increase was not double-digit. Haven't seen or heard about any 80+% increases yet.

Yes, my company's health insurance renewal was 24%, but we negotiated a rate of 22%. The rate had been frozen for three years prior to the renewal.
