Does anyone have any suggestions for trimming the cost of workers comp insurance. We've had very few claims and even got a rebate from our carrier this year for our low level of claims but I'm looking for ways to further reduce our premiums. Can anyone tell me how the classification system works as in what determines whether an employee is classified as one comp class code or another? We pay a substantial premium it seems for staff who do field installation and training versus administrative stay in the office types. Anyone else trying to contain costs here?

Your broker or agent should be able to explain how the classification system works. You may also want to check into a captive group - a group that pools several companies together to get lower rates.
