Free Morale Booster Needed

Our company is facing a very threatening future. A morale booster is needed desparately but this would be the worst time to ask for additional funds for a teambuilding project. Anyone have any ideas to keep spirits up at an extremely low cost? This is really needed, any suggestions would be great.

There are many low cost employee recognition programs that you can consider. Do a search on Workforce.com and you will find a lot of good info.

A potluck might help then an executive member gives an upbeat speech.
We have tried a "hat" day and judged for the funniest hat. The winner got a small prize.

I think when we allow our employees to ask any question/s they want in a roundtable session and the CEO or President is there to answer them this seems to help people feel a part of a team. Not knowing what is going on is the worst for employees morale and I've noticed gossip abounds with incorrect info which increases anxiety, etc. We are a 25-30 employee company and have financial problems where lay offs were needed.

And last but not least I refer to "1001 ways to reward employees". They have motivational tips that do not cost anything. This book has saved my day many times.
