Underuse/overuse of benefits - looking for research

i just worked on an open enrollment were the company had an increase of 35% in medical benefits. Employees morale was really low and they had a very tough time coping with the new situation. the first month was really hard for everybody and after that, everybody understood that it was inevitable due to the economic circumstances. if companies are facing this issue, the need to look for another way and strategies as far as benefits. employees need to feel that the employer still cares. as the article says, there are many many options out there. HR just needs to be creative and align the new strategies to the companies values.
