I'm looking for data about how much money is spent on employee recognition/ appreciation per employee or FTE in companies. Does anyone have that information? It would be ideal to know how this amount differs between high-performing companies and other companies.

Thanks.

The data I've seen is that 3% of annual payroll is typical for recognition programs, include service awards and "informal" programs.

The question is, is it fair to treat all employees the same way? I know some in my company that are treated totally different than anyone else. 3% might be the norm, but should it be across the board?
