Discounts / Perks/ low cost benefit
Exchange ideas about health plans, retirement, work/life benefits, and employee assistance.
Our head office is based in Canada, but we have offices in the U.S particularly Minneapolis.
We're thinking of things we could offer to our US employees. What are soft/low cost benefits available

A lot of companies are thinking of low cost ways to help employees with the high cost of gas....here are some ideas in that respect:
Possibly parking or metro bus/train passes.
Flexible work hours/schedules
Carpooling
Other low cost ways:
Checking with the Chamber of Commerce to see what discounts/coupons are available to amusement parks, movies, recreation, etc.;
Working with a local fitness/YMCA to get a work group discount;
Birthday cake celebrations once a month;
EAP (employee assistance program) -- usually through your benefits broker...sometimes even comes free with other benefits

Have you considered offering Patient Advocacy/Claims assistance as a benefit?
This is a nice benefit and can help to lower premiums and save company $$$ when an employee has a large medical claim. Hospital Bill Audits yiled many errors.

I recently worked with a local agent that was promoting a tele md service called PASMD. Basically you call an 800# and a doctor answers the call. They will even provide and call a prescription in for you. The reason we liked it was we felt it would cut our sick day usage by giving our associates a means of reaching a doctor without needing to schedule a visit during work hours. The service is $15 per mo and we found that our associates who opted out of our med benefits program were the ones who liked it the most because it was cost effective. Best yet we didn't have to worry about payroll deductions. We provided them with a promo card supplied by the sales agent and they enroll online. Our agent's name is Bobby Blanco / 915-588-7897.
