Would someone be willing to email me a sample tuition reimbursement policy? I'm looking for ideas on how to structure the one that my company is starting up. Thanks!

I have posted a copy of our Education Reimbursement Plan. Hope this helps.

I. OBJECTIVE
The objectives of the Education Reimbursement Plan are:
1. To enhance employees abilities in perform in current positions;
2. To qualify employees to fill positions within the company;
3. To correct employees skill or knowledge gaps.

II. SCOPE
This policy applies to all employees of (Name of Company).

III. ELIGIBILITY
This plan is available to all employees who have completed one year of full-time service with (Name of Company).

IV. STATEMENT OF POLICY
To be eligible for reimbursement, the course must be job-related or improve the employee's value to the Company or be part of an approved development plan developed by the employees supervisor or manager.

The Company will provide tuition or fee reimbursement to employees who complete approved courses or seminars at accredited schools or institutions.

Tuition or fee reimbursement will be based on average cost per credit hour at state colleges/universities or similar institutions. If the employee selects a college that has a higher cost per credit hour than the above institutions, the employee shall be responsible for the difference.

Employees must pursue studies on their own time outside of the normal workday. Course attendance, travel and preparatory study may not interfere with the employee's work schedule.

No member of management may promise an employee that a course will be reimbursable. To assure uniform application of the Education Reimbursement Plan, final approval will be issued by Human Resources. A reason for denial of course reimbursement may be requested in writing from Human Resources.

V. EMPLOYEE REIMBURSEMENT PROCEDURE
The Plan provides for 100% reimbursement of the tuition. Employees will not be reimbursed for textbooks or any other materials or fees. The employee will pay the tuition costs initially. After receiving a final grade of "C" or higher, (or pass in a pass/fail situation), the employee is eligible to be reimbursed 100% of tuition.
