Our policy allows for 8 points in a rolling calendar year with 1 point for a day of approved or unapproved time off and 1/2 point for late in/early out with some special amounts for other related attendance issues. We have no sick leave and have a vacation policy-accrues after introductory period to be used after anniversary unless they term.
I was wondering how to deal with the policy if the EE comes in but is sent home one day and calls in sick the next. Do we count either of these days (partial or entire) against the points or since they came in, do we give them the allowance? Any advice?

Also, if they hadn't received an EE handbook for most of the period and then received a new one but haven't signed the acknowledgement yet, is it assumed that good attendance is mandatory and can we count the earlier absences against them? (An EE has had many absences prior to the release of the new manual and did receive a verbal correction notice with the consequence of failing to follow the notice to incur more absences in the meantime.)
