My company has a game room and workout facility. The game room has a Wii in it and I think it's promoted more team work with the various departments that don't necessarily work together everyday. And, as far as getting injured goes, all employees have to sign a waiver before they are given access to the facilities.

it would just create a disruptive environment! can lead to injuries and even discrimination! not a good idea

Anneattea - Why focus on the Negative (Potential Loss/Disrution/Discrimination...) when you can focus on the positive potential, is it not possible that you can be preventing potential gain????? What can you lose if you are completely closed to the idea???????

Great idea! Just make sure that before anyone can use it they are shown how to use the remotes safely (so they don't throw them. Happens a lot the first time someone uses it.)

Our company purchased a Wii last year and set up training classes for those who did not know how to use it. We kicked off with a Boxing Match between the Company President and the Engineering Manager in our boardroom with all employees cheering them on. We sent out a list of rules and limited playing time to 15 minutes outside of lunch. The Wii is in our gameroom, and individuals wanting time on it need to reserve the room through our MeetingMaker program. We have had no abuse, injuries, issues or any negative feedback. And it has been a tremendous morale booster, especially in this economic environment.

We have a Wii fit in the fitness center (onsite), get's a lot of use and the previous comment was accurate - if you only supply Wii Fit + golf/tennis etc. it's a big difference from other games. We position it as fitness related (it's a stretch, but works to get people into the fitness center).

We have Kinects for Xbox avaialable for check out in two of our lunch rooms. They are not abused and people seem to enjoy their breaks. I think the key is to limit which games can be played.

We did this with no negative impact. We even did a Wii Olympics during our Wellness Fair. People had a great time with it.

Issues may depend on the kind of workforce you have. We are a software company with most employees being in the exempt category. Work tends to be measured more on results delivered than time and coverage.

I think it sounds like a great idea. A friend and I were thinking of bringing in board games for lunchtime fun or breaks. I never thought of the Wii. A little fun in the office can be good. But probably Wii fit or bowling, baseball, etc would be the best games to get.
