One question that this discussion has brought to mind is: Would these three services be considered by a corporate Benefits Manager independent of an EAP?

An EAP has typically developed the necessary corporate relationships and could simply offer these services along with a myraid of other services, such as behavioral health, layoff counseling, etc.

The trends show that there is a growing market for all of the services, with the most tangible ROI story being for Wellness, but would a Benefits Manager be willing to discuss them without the EAP's backing or would it be better marketed as a menu item within an EAP, or both?

Some benefits managers might, but I suspect most won't. As several posters have noted, their emphasis will be on benefits with more of an impact on the bottom line. And it's far easier to refer someone with issues such as these to an EAP.

IMO, marketing these through an EAP would be the best way to go.

I agree that through an EAP is the way to go. Because I suspect a small % of your population will need each different service and that would be the only way to make it affordable.

Thanks to all who offered opinions about marketing standalone vs. EAP. I would invite others to give their opinions as well.

I heard recently that the President has mentioned possible incentives for businesses that have a Wellness program. No details yet, but if true, I think that would further strengthen the ROI case for Wellness.

I'm still looking for additional research to solidify the Child Care & Elder Care stories.

I sure hope Congress doesn't pass such an incentive. Who would measure the program to make sure it meets certain requirements? If a company has $1M in medical claims, implements a $50K wellness program (state of the art), which reduces claims down to $850K and slows trend, isn't that enough of an incentive?

If a company is that concerned about the cost of a wellness program, they probably aren't doing it for the right reason. Regardless if the program is $50K or $30K (employer is able to write it off), they probably aren't going to do it. I'm sure some people with disagree with this statement, however, I sit down in front of prospects/clients and most of them are that eager to allocate the proper funds needed to create a proper wellness program.

I had a problem with the bath cosmetics, that i bought from a hypermarket. I`m from Andorra, and my daughter Maria had an alergy inducted by a bath product. I went from town to town, and no one couldn`t help my little angel . I was lucky when a dr from Barcelona, Antonio Famagusta discover that the alergy is inducted by a parasite from a cosmetic company. I sue them .. but i-m to small for that mafia. Also Dr Famagusta helped me with Natural Bath Products
Now I'm scared about any food, any cosmetics what should i do ?

Regarding solid research on the eldercare issue: It does exist, and you will find the majority of the statistics and related information in my recently completed master level thesis titled:

"An Exploratory Study of Corporate Employees with Eldercare Challenges, 2009"

I am most happy to send my executive summary and/or sample company report to anyone seeking information on employees as elder caregivers, specific corporate productivity loss related to employee eldercare difficulties, benefits for companies offering eldercare assistance and study findings.

(The full thesis is available, however it is quite L O N G...)

Please make your request via the "contact us" portion on my web site:

or call 414-763-6333. Use "workforce comments" in your subject line (please).

You will also find informative newsletters on the web site that address these concerns.

Thank you for presenting this topic!
