Where can I find (or does anyone know) a list of what should be kept in personnel files and what shouldn't be there? Thanks.

Since retention and the like may differ from state to state, you can check with your State's Dept. of Labor, and then the attorney that handles employment matters for your company. Most have a handy checklist for what goes in, and how long to maintain records.

I-9's don't need to be in personnel files. Benefits should be in a seperate file as well.
