I am starting a corporate training department and we
are trying something a little different. Instead of
full-time, regular training employees, we are keeping
our corporate staff intentionally small (2 internal
training consultants reporting to me) and using a
"loan" system from the business units in which subject
matter experts are "on loan" to us either full or
part-time, for a fixed duration (i.e. 1 year, 6
months, whatever). These folks will lead teams to
develop and deliver the training.
Question #1: Has anyone worked with a similar structure? Has
anyone read about/heard of companies who have
experimented with what I've described? I seem to
remember hearing something about Hewlett-Packard
pulling people from the business to be temporary
"university faculty"--it was considered a very
prestigious assignment.
Question #2: Does anyone have any good job
descriptions for training professionals?

your project sounds interesting-good luck.
You may check with Motorola University in Schaumburg, as well as Phoenix. Perhaps they can assist you.
Thx-Dan
