Hi all,
I am working on a project for my Master's program where I am discussing the job duties and responsibilities of new HR clerks and how they learn those skills.
For example, who, in your organization, trains the new HR clerks to fill out new employee paperwork on other new employees? Do you have a guidebook or instructional folder for them?
Do you have them attend SHRM workshops etc to help them learn their job?
What specific tasks do your new HR clerks accomplish?
If you can write me back at twickens@xpressweb.com I would really appreciate it. I am a member of SHRM but do not have my member number yet so I am hoping to use that resource too.

Thanks
Teresa

Teresa,
We have a policy manual the new clerk uses. Also I sit down with the clerk to review the process. I am the Manager of the department. Last year I hired a new representative and went through an orientation process with her. The process included doing and employee orientation with her setting in, reviewing what needed to be completed by whom and when, and reviewing company information and procedures.
I am a beleiver in ongoing training so I have my direct reports continue training by going to seminars and conferences.
Our Rep is responsible for payroll, hourly staffing and recordkeeping
