Point taken. I'm in Canada and am not familiar with trends in severance pay amounts in the US. I guess I was referencing Canadian severance payments, which are generally HUMUNGEOUS!!! and as a result, additional stay bonuses on top of HUMUNGEOUS!!! severance payments is a bit of a silly idea.

Yes the Canadian payouts of two years of pay are over the top.

They're not THAT humungeous! Some Canadian employees may've gotten two years' pay (and I've personally only heard of one that got that), but the very vast majority of Canadian severance pay amounts are between three and twelve months' worth of pay. When I said humungeous, I meant it as compared to American severance packages.
