I totally agree with your attorney. You need to give some reason, but just don't allow yourself to get drawn into a debate because you may wind up saying something that'll be played back to you by a plaintiff's attorney. My suggestion was simply to give her only what she already knows which would include past performance counseling/warnings etc.
