Looking for a resource that or who could outline what original (hard copy) documents must be maintained in the personnel file. We currently scan all documents into an electronic repository and would love to reduce amount that actually has to be filed. Thank youl.

I took over basic HR duties at my new job and had the same question, so I asked the HR manager from my old company. She told me that, at least for WI, there is no code/law that says documents need to be hard copies or electronic, but that you just need to have the information.
