I am looking to create a cell phone usage guideline/policy for our manufacturing facility. We have an unwritten rule of prohibiting cell phone usage (texting, calling) for employees who are in the production area; however looking for any examples to start creating a more specfic policy. We will use this to set clear expectations and accountability of all employees Any advice or samples to share, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Working in the health care field, we are trying to implement the same. Today, after finishing some online research, I've come up with the following... but I'm only starting here and need further review. Hope this can help.
For the purposes of this policy, the term cell phone is defined as any handheld electronic device with the ability to receive and/or transmit voice, text, or data messages without a cable connection (including but not limited to, cellular telephones, digital wireless phones, radio-phones/walkie-talkies, telephone pagers, PDAs (personal digital assistants with wireless communication capabilities), or RIM (research in motion) wireless devices). XXX reserves the right to modify or update these policies at any time.
Due to the nature of long-term health care and the services XXX provides, mobile phones are a distraction in the workplace. Employees are asked to leave cell phones turned off and in their locker for their shift. Use may only occur during scheduled breaks or lunch periods in non-working areas. XXX is not liable for the loss of personal cell phones brought into the workplace.
