You have received a lot of good advice and it sounds like you have come to the right conclusion. So keep looking and keep building up your resume.
If the others want to know what you are going to do tell them that they need to own giving feedback to the owner, not you. Give them the advice and counsel rather than them pushing you to take action.

I would not send an e-mail like that out to your boss. I know that it is frustrating because ppl voice their concerns and there is nothing you can do about it but it is not your place to bring these issues up. I know if I sent this to my boss, he would want to know specifically who has been talking and what they have said. Are you prepared to tell him this and drag other ppl into it as well? I think if you send this letter you would be putting a nail in your own coffin. I would instruct co-workers that you are not in a position to really negotiate these things or to complain on the quality of work of a contractor. Tell them that they should address this with the boss directly. That keeps you out of the middle of it.

Good advice here. I would add that you work for the owner, not the employees. It is your job to support the business. I would try to convey to the EEs who approach you about anything. And remind them that it is also their place to support the business, not to make waves or gossip.
