We don't do sick time, we do PTO. Our employees earn PTO per hour worked so there is no problem. If you are in SF or do business their just ensure your minimum accrual complies with the law.

Our employees also receive PTO in hourly segments rather than daily segments. If they regularly work 6 hours per day (like me), then when they take a day off, 6 hours gets docked. But their original beginning of the year balance was also prorated (6/8*12 days * 8 hrs per day). So someone working a 4/10 would still get 12 days *8 hours per day but when they took time off 10 hours would be subtracted instead of 8.

But we give our employees their full balance at the beginning of the year. But accruals in hours would work just as well.
