Hi All-

I have an employee who was put on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). Her performance has improved and her manager is satisfied with the employee's overall improvement and level of consistency. So, we are going to take this employee off of the PIP. How do you document this? A separate letter? An attachment to the PIP?

Thanks!

I don't think it really matters, as long as it's documented somehow and it's in the person's file.

The manager actually wrote a summary of her progress over the last few weeks. Is it appropriate to add those notes into the documentation that states she's no longer on the PIP?

Of course.

Not only document it, but make sure the manager meets with the employee to discuss the improvements and review the expectations going forward. Often employees are only in meetings when things aren't going well - reinforce the good behaviour you've seen.
