Under California law, do commissions or bonus pay have to be paid at the time an employee is discharged OR can this type of pay be paid when it is regularly paid (i.e. if commission or bonus pay is due on the 15th of the month).

To get the specific answer to this question, you should either consult with your friendly labor and employment attorney or call the state department or commission of labor. Generally, commissions have to be paid on an employee's termination if the employee has performed all the services necessary to have "earned" the commission (even if the deal does not "close" for several months later). In some states, all wages earned have to be paid at the time of termination or the next regularly scheduled pay day. Other states have different rules.
