Breach of Contract

I signed an agreement with a consulting company. According to the terms of the they would find me a job and I agreed to incur an expense to the tune of $1500 and I was told(included in the written agreement) I would be reimbursed once they find a job for me. The company failed to find me a job for six months and they did bother to even contact me. In the mean time I received another offer and I moved on. I was wondering If I have any legal recourse against the consulting company?

Thanks

It's awfully hard to make a judgement based on what you've told us, and without having that agreement in front of us. A glaring issue is the time frame in which they were to find you a job; they didn't find you one in six months, but, according to the agreement, did they have to?

Because you are dissatisfied with their performance doesn't mean the agreement held them to perform - if you feel they haven't lived up to what they agreed to do, take the agreement to see a lawyer.

Admittedly, I have never used a consulting company from the employee's perspective, so maybe I have no idea what I am talking about, but it sounds to me like you have a pretty strange agreement. You say the contract required you to incur $1500 in expenses. What kind of expenses? What did you buy or incur? Was the consult otherwise free? Did they really promise to reimburse you the expenses you incurred if they found a job for you? (I.e., this consultant agreed to provide free services for you and if the consult found you a job, to PAY you $1500 for the privilege of doing this work!)

Frankly, this does not make much sense to me. What was in it for the consultant -- i.e., who paid them? After all, they are not in the business of giving away their services are they?

Take the contract to a lawyer, but it sounds like we are missing something key here.
