If a person is a civilian worker for the Federal Gov't and lives in a state that provides state disability, are they eligible for state disability since apparently the Fed doesn't provide short term disability?

Way to complex a question for me. I wold contact your state department of labor about the state disability insurance plan. (My guess is that because the Federal Government does not have to provide the benefit, you are SOL. But that is a guess.)

In New Jersey, the answer is no, federal employees are not covered under the State Disability law. As there are only about five states with mandatory disability coverage, there's about a one in five chance that this will answer your question.
