On the new I-9 forms can we still use expired passports to verify identification?

On the form dated to expire 6/30/09, I am finding that is states "US Passport (unexpired or expired)".

Non US passports are handled a bit differently though.

Just a correction to the RRupert's response.

As of 4/3/09, expired documents of ANY kind are no longer acceptable. This means US Passports must now be valid and unexpired.

What is true as of the date of your posting that no longer are expired documents allowed was not true at the time of my posting. Thanks for updating this message for future inquiries though.
