We have always verbally layoff people in the past. The owner of the company wants me to prepare a letter. I don't know if this is a good idea because i do not want the letter to be used against us lat

We have always verbally layoff people in the past. The owner of the company wants me to prepare a letter. I don't know if this is a good idea because i do not want the letter to be used against us later.

A well written letter explaining what is happening, the employees rights and benefits and what the employer will do for them, including any recall provisions, is probably a good idea.
