I've just been reading a federal DOL document about WARN regulations (a little light entertainment) and it seems to be saying that employers with 100 or more employees must invoke WARN notice stuff if they're laying off 50 or more of those employees at once.

Have I got this right? Does this mean that a company with 83 employees doesn't have to invoke WARN even if it closes down entirely (and lays off all 83 people on the same day)?

Thanks.

I believe the FEDERAL WARN act applies only to employers with more than 100 employees but your state may have something different. Here in WI, the state WARN act applies to employers with 50 or more employees.

To answer your original question - yes.
