My company refuses to pay for time spent on reserve. Sometimes this includes sitting in the airport for over 10 hours on a ready reserve. I only get paid when I fly.

Do Unions not comply with the Fair labor standards act, and at least a minimum wage while on duty?

Need a little more information. What exactly is your position? What exactly do you mean by reserve? When you are called when on reserve, what exactly happens with regard to compensation?

Have you read your union contract? It should have a section on reserve duty and what should happen.

Hi:
Common issue in the airline industry for flight attendants. Would be addressed in collective bargaining agreement.

Airlines fall under the Railway Labor Act (R.L.A) not the National Labor Relations Act (N.L.R.A) under the act Railroads and airlines are exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (F.L.S.A)as well as state minimum wage laws.
