I have approved an employee for intermittent FMLA for a six month period. It will end 11/28/09. She has used 480 hours as of 10/14/09. Since I have the range approved to 11/28/09, do I still have to approve FMLA until that date?

No. If she has exhausted her statutory time you have no obligation to offer her more time than allowed.

My company has several people on intermittent FMLA at any given time. It is good for 12 months OR until the time is exhausted. At the end of the 12 months, whether all of the time was taken or not, the associate must re-certify (assuming the need still exists). If the time is exhausted prior to the 12 months and there is no PTO to cover the additional time out needed, the associate would be terminated.
